WELCOME!

This site is especially for pregnant and parenting adolescents.  In a country where teen parents are looked upon as the stereotypical welfare mom with 100,000,000 kids, the need for educational resources is critical for professionals and pregnant and parenting teens. The stigma behind teen parenting can be very damaging and can lead young parents to discouragement. Only when we are armed with information can we receive the recognition and support we need. Parenting is not easy whether you are 16 or 30, and all parents are bound to make some mistakes.  Different parents use different parenting techniques, and this web site will help share information about best practices.  Just remember that there is no such thing as bad parents so don’t ever give up, lose hope or be afraid to ask for help!

Several years ago, I came across an article that caught my attention.  The title of it is “The Myth of the Bad Parent.”  Check it out by clicking HERE.  (This is an excerpt from a publication of the Center for Mental Health Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.)

*Please note that this web site is NOT intended to advocate for the beliefs of pro-choice and/or pro-life nor is there an underlying message that glorifies teen pregnancy. The purpose of this site is to use the strengths perspective to promote 1) LOVE, 2) SUPPORT, 3) RESILIENCY, 4) RESPECT, 5) EDUCATION, and 6) UNDERSTANDING among young parents and professionals working with this population. All the information and links on this site are provided to empower young parents to have the self-determination and strength to fulfill their goals and happiness in life.

I have received many emails by individuals who would like to know why I have created this site. The answer relates to my personal experiences as a young parent and how I was perceived by the public. Young parents are often misrepresented by our communities and the media. Therefore, this has left a negative image on teen parents. As a result, I have chosen to create this site to provide information and resources to young parents and professionals.

Thank you for supporting and visiting this site!
